About Me
Hello everyone, welcome to my website. I am Özge Özdemir, a journalist living in London. I have worked in a newspaper, television channel and digital media outlets; and wholeheartedly I aim to find and tell incredible stories.
I decided to become a journalist at 12, after witnessing the aftermath of a major earthquake in Turkey. Shocked by the scale of the disaster, I began collecting newspaper clippings, marking the start of my journey in journalism. In my teenage years, a love for cinema also emerged, and I found myself torn between becoming a director or a journalist. While studying political science in university, I finally made my choice: I was meant to be a journalist.
That decision led me to fulfill my dream of working at the BBC. Today, I’m eager to merge my passion for news and cinema, channeling my journalism skills into visual storytelling and documentary production.
I’m passionate about every step of video production and editing.
My interests and expertise range widely—from politics, economics, and finance to entertainment, movies, television, music, popular culture, and dance.
At the BBC World Service, I cover news in economics, finance, politics, lifestyle, and popular culture.
I also run a YouTube channel, PopJourno, where I explore the stories behind popular culture.
